Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule (DEO) Cairo

The Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule (DEO) in  Cairo ist one of eight Deutsche Auslandschulen in Egypt. It was founded in 1873 and follows the concept of an integrated school, which means both German and Egyptian students as well as students of other origin are welcome to learn at DEO. The school offers its students the opportunity to complete the German Abitur after twelve school years.

About 1,300 students visit DEO currently; they are looked after by about 120 teachers. This makes DEO one of the largest German schools abroad and the largest in the Middle East and Africa. In 2011 the school was awarded with the seal of quality “Exzellente deutsche Auslandschule “. The holder of the institution is the German-speaking Protestant church in Cairo, which provides for the affairs of the DEO through the school committee.
